Kompit is a SuperApp for competitions, offering an end-to-end experience—starting from event registration, match management, to real-time leaderboards.

Project Overview

Kompit is a SuperApp for competitions, offering an end-to-end experience—starting from event registration, match management, to real-time leaderboards. It also provides supporting features such as venue rental, sparring sessions, social-based marketplace, and training class bookings.

This case study focuses on the Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) competition module, addressing the challenges of registration, event management, match scoring, and live leaderboard display. The app is designed for a wide user base, ranging from children to adults who actively participate in competitive sports.

Problem Statement

Through user interviews with athletes, organizers, and community members, we identified several key pain points:

  • Manual registration process – mostly done offline through dojos.
  • Inefficient event management – brackets, scoring, and winner announcements are handled manually.
  • No real-time match updates – athletes and spectators have no access to live scores during matches.
  • Lack of performance tracking – no structured way for athletes to view their historical stats and improve strategy.

Goals

  • Redesign the registration and event management flow.
  • Create a modern, user-friendly UI for athletes, organizers, and audiences.
  • Enable a live scoreboard feature that works offline on the field.
  • Provide data-driven athlete performance insights.

Design Process

01

Empathize

Conducted interviews with 7 key stakeholders (athletes, organizers, admins, and spectators). Observed real BJJ tournaments to understand the competition workflow.
02

Define

User Personas:
Aditya the Athlete – wants to register easily, track scores, and monitor performance.

Ideate

Wireframed key flows for:
Athlete registration
Event creation & bracket management
Score input & leaderboard display

Proposed new solutions like:
Flexible payment system
Real-time (and offline-capable) scoreboard
Athlete performance dashboards
04

Organizers found bracket tools easier to manage.
Offline scoreboard projection was a major win.

Multiple iterations on: Scoreboard layout Flow efficiency for match controllers Data display for audience and athletes

Key Solution & Features

These are the places where customers interact with the brand, such as the website, social media, retail environments, customer service, and advertising. Each touchpoint should provide a consistent and coherent brand experience. The ease and satisfaction with which customers can interact with the brand’s products or services. Good UX is crucial in digital branding.

Fun Insights

  • Balancing the needs of athletes, organizers, and spectators in one cohesive flow was a unique UX challenge.
  • Designing a scoreboard that works both online and offline required careful collaboration with developers.
  • This project emphasized the importance of user testing in real environments (on-site events) to validate usability and technical feasibility.
